Privacy Policy

Who is responsible

Aleksandr Saksonov operates the Goospeak family of language-learning apps and is responsible for the personal data described here. For privacy questions or requests, email goosappteam@gmail.com. This policy covers the apps and their resource and legal pages on domesticnomads.com. Features and service providers can differ between app versions and platforms.

Data used by the apps

Microphone and speech

Speaking exercises request microphone permission and, where required, speech-recognition permission. Pronunciation models run on the device. Speech-to-text also uses the operating system's recognition service: Apple on iOS and the configured recognition provider on Android, which may be Google. Depending on the device, language and provider, speech recognition can send audio to that provider's servers. Goospeak's resource server is not an audio-upload service. Temporary recordings and recognition results are used for the exercise; avoid speaking sensitive personal information into exercises. You can revoke permissions in device settings and continue using features that do not require them.

Purposes and legal grounds

We use information needed to deliver exercises, downloads, purchased access and requested support to provide the service. We rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining security, resolving problems and understanding product usage for the related technical processing and analytics, subject to your rights. Where consent is required, it is the applicable basis and may be withdrawn. Operating-system permissions control access to the microphone, speech recognition and notifications; granting a device permission does not by itself authorise unrelated processing. We may also retain information where needed to meet legal obligations.

Service providers and international processing

Recipients include Contabo for hosting, Mixpanel for analytics, Crisp for support, Apple and Google for store services, and your device's speech-recognition provider. Data may be processed outside your country, including in the EU and the United States. Mixpanel projects in the current apps use either EU or US endpoints, depending on the app. Where GDPR transfer restrictions apply, transfers must use an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

Provider information: Mixpanel, Crisp, Apple, Google and Contabo. Their independent services are also governed by their own notices.

Retention and security

Local progress and preferences remain until you clear the app's data or remove it, subject to operating-system backups. Downloaded resources may remain in the device cache until removed. Support records, analytics and technical logs are kept for as long as needed for the purposes described above, taking into account resolution of support cases, security investigations, legal requirements and deletion requests. Retention can differ by provider and data type. Contact us for details about a particular record or to request deletion. We use HTTPS for the resource server and restrict administrative access; no storage or transmission method guarantees absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can change microphone, speech and notification permissions in device settings. To request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal data, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests, email us. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Rights are subject to applicable law. We may need proportionate information to identify the relevant records; please do not send passwords or payment-card details. You may complain to your local data-protection authority. See the European Commission's explanation of data-protection rights.

Children and changes

If a child uses Goospeak, a parent or guardian should supervise use, purchases and any sharing of personal information, and provide any authorisation required by local law. Contact us if you believe a child's information has been shared without the required authorisation. We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice when required.
